About Styles
Chako was launched in 2003 by a mother & daughter team - Fusako and Kazumi who aspires to breath new life into vintage Japanese obi & kimono fabric by creating timeless and versatile accessories. Their collaboration began when Kazumi asked her mother for a small favor - to make a handbag out of a silk obi that she found in an antique market in Tokyo.

Since the launch of the brand, Chako products have been sold in boutiques around the world including Lane Crawford in Hong Kong (leading luxury department store), Austique in London (named top 50 boutiques in London by Time Out) and Kat Van Duinen in Cape Town (featured on Louis Vuitton City Guide Book). Media coverage includes Oprah Winfrey's O magazine, Insyle.com, Vogue.com, Elle South Africa, Traditional Homes, Travel & Leisure, Hong Kong Tatler, South China Morning Post and Financial Times.

Chako prides itself in reinventing and respecting tradition, craftsmanship and its one of a kind uniqueness.
